Match Report - Cobham C Festival 2007

The boys were fired up for the Cobham C festival and were determined to triumph.

That said we were caught a little cold in our first match against Teddington, who were playing their second match. Teddington scored in the first half and we worked hard to try and equalise but just as we were beginning to get into our stride and taking the game to the opposition the final whistle went.

The second game against Sutton and Epsom was a cracker, we tackled hard, ran straight, played the game in the oppositions half and were comfortable 2-0 winners.

The semi final against Reeds was a hard fought match and the boys were really up for this one. The boys tackled hard and did not give an inch, scoreless at full time we went into extra time. Reeds scored first in extra time, however the boys lifted their game and scored a well worked try right at the death for the score to be level at 1-1. Reeds thought that they had done enough and were through to the final, Cobham heads went down.

But - a clarification of the rules meant that Cobham was in the final and were up against Teddington. We went a try down from the start, fought back hard and equalised but Teddington scored one more try to win the game 2-1 and so won the final.

While the boys were naturally disappointed by being runners up, they can be proud of the way they played throughout the festival. The club can only be pleased with strength in depth of the under 10 age group.
