Sutton and Epsom 2nd XV 10 – 5 Cobham 2nd XV
Surrey League Four
20 April 2008
Try: MccGwire
For the last game in this season, the 2nds faced another hill - Sutton and Epsom's Priest Hill. The slope was even more pronounced than last week at London Irish. The squad welcomed back James Stringer from his sabbatical down under to fill the No10 slot and Tom MccGwire making a guest appearance at Full Back.
The teams were evenly matched and play tended to go with the slope. Half-way through the first half, the ball passed down the back line and Tom MccGwire stepped into the line and dived over to score. The try was unconverted.
At the start of the second half, Cobham were caught napping and Sutton and Epsom ran through a sleeping defence to equalise. For the majority of the second half, Cobham had to defend in their own half and despite some spirited defence, Sutton and Epsom scored again in the corner. Both of their tries remained unconverted.
Overall, the squad had a reasonably successful season ending fourth in League 4.
