The Cobham Rugby Awards
Value the Volunteer
By its very nature Cobham Rugby Club is staffed exclusively by volunteers who make it all happen. Whether that’s manning a BBQ stand at a festival, building up sponsorship income or re-building the clubhouse – we’re all volunteers. But perhaps we don’t thank those who do what they do for our club and make it the very successful entity that it is – from the U5s throwing around sponge rugby balls on a Sunday through to the old and bold who continue to put their tired body on the line for the All Stars.
So to follow on from the last two year’s very successful awards, we’re going to have an Awards scheme whereby we can publicly thank those who contribute in their own significant and individual way. The Awards scheme will run along the following lines:
Section Club Member of the Year. Each Section (Minis, Youth, Seniors) will appoint a Section Club Member of the Year. The members of each section will nominate a worthy person and the Section Chairman will have the casting vote on the winner (to be kept secret) who will be given an award at the Summer Ball. No doubt each Section will also be thanking others within their group too in whatever way they feel fit.
Club Member of the Year. This is the Members’ award whereby the Club members vote on who they consider has contributed the most to the club. To submit your entry (one entry per member!) please email MembersAward@cobhamrfc.com
President’s Award. The Club Committee will make an award for the outstanding contribution to the Club, again to be presented at the Summer Ball.
These Awards are not huge in number or scope, but a small way of acknowledging the immense amount of time and effort certain people put into the club to produce some fantastic results on the pitch and a really great club spirit off it.
Please do spend a little time making sure your voice is heard. All entries must be submitted by the end of April being the end of the season.
