Solid win 39-6 with Rooke and Johnson grabbing a brace each...
Cobham were looking to make it 3 home wins on the bounce after last weekends away loss to league leaders Tonbridge Juddians.
All the sore heads from last Sundays enjoyable long lunch had cleared up and the focus was on getting a good result against Wimbledon after losing at their place earlier in the season.
There was a last minute change to the team, Joe Goddard who had returned from his travels had a hamstring injury so Billy Davison came off the bench to start and Leo Coates came in on the bench.
The weather conditions on the day were rather wet and muddy for running rugby. But from the kick off Cobham received the ball, Leon taking the catch and popping off to full back Oli Brown who hit gap and took play up over half way before off-loading to the supporting Charlie Rooke who was tackled just before the line. Cobham recycled the ball taking play into the opposite corner were Rob Kennard saw a gap to score the 1st try.
Wimbledon restarted the match Cobham taking the catch and taking play into the Wimbledon half, a chip behind the Wimbledon defence from Luke Flower for Charlie Rooke to gather and beat the covering defence and score in the corner.
Score 10-0 to Cobham
A blood injury to Arran Cowell saw Will Avery come on in the centre for 5 minutes whilst physio Dave sorted the Captain out, then an injury to Wing Billy Bates saw him come off as Skipper Cowell came back on so Will Avery then moved onto the Wing.
Cobham then gave away a couple of penalties in a 10 minute period to give Wimbledon their first points. Cobham 10 Wimbledon 6

Wimbledon looked to clear their lines but Oli Brown who'd had an excellent match all day took the high ball from deep and chipping into space and gathered the ball back only to be tackled short of the line but patience from the Cobham forwards had Leon driven over for Cobham's 6th try, which was converted by Luke Flower. Cobham 32 Wimbledon 6.
With 65 minutes gone a change was made with the versatile Tristan Lee coming on for Leon who had another excellent game in the backrow.

This young Cobham side have come along way since the start of the season and the new combinations are coming together. The pack had an excellent match with the new backrow combination of Leon, Matt Johnson and Doug Rodman playing exceptionally well. With 3 home wins on the bounce Cobham are growing in confidence.
With only 5 matches of the season left, next week is another big match at home to Haywards Heath all support is very welcome.
