Second half comeback falls short in 36-20 loss...
Cobham headed to Dover hoping to get the New Year off to a good start after a month of no matches even with a number of 1st XV regulars missing; Alexander, Gibbson, Nunn, Johnson, Hahn & Goddard up front and Sutton and Rooke from behind the scrum.
Unfortunately The first 35 mins went all Dover's way as they used the slope to their advantage and Cobham found themselves 29-3 down but 5 mins before the end of the half Cobham started to put pressure on Dover and Josh Brown scored in the corner to make it 29-8 at half time.
The 2nd half started the way the 1st ended with Cobham putting the pressure on Dover and Cobham got a 2nd try through Billy Bates to take the scored to 29-15 and Cobham well back in the match.
Dover worked their way up the slope and put pressure on the Cobham scrum and a loose ball was taken by Dover to score under the posts.
Cobham again camped in the Dover half and sustained pressure got Cobham a 3rd try again through Bates to take the score to 36-20.
With a minute remaining Cobham looked for a fourth try from their own line and a break looked on but for a last ditch tap tackle from Dover on Andy Flower.
Cobham can take a lot from their 2nd half performance and if they can take this into the run of matches coming up the 2nd half of the season it could be very bright for a Cobham team who are still getting used to playing together.
- In other games, the A XV beat Wimbledon 20-5 and the All Stars won 21-7 against London Irish.
