Sunday afternoon opportunity at St Andrew's...
Conscious that some younger Cobham members are missing the opportunity for worship on a Sunday morning due to the clash with sport, a group has been formed to provide a later opportunity in the day. As a member of the local Cobham community we thought some might be interested in this.
Ignite is a monthly service at St Andrews, Oxshott, aimed at school aged children. A recent survey found that many families cannot get to church due to sports commitments on Sundays, so we have introduced a 4.30pm-5.30pm service, held on the second Sunday of each month. It will commence with afternoon tea, then move on to lively and fun praise, a simple but relevant message, often in the form of puppetry, sketches, quiz or craft and ends in prayers. Children will be encouraged to help with a collection of copper coins for charity, sound and projector responsibilities, and handing out squash, sandwiches and biscuits.
Our first service on January 10th had a congregation of nearly 50 and was great fun. The jam sandwiches and toffee doughnuts got everyone in the mood. Josey Wisdom had everyone jumping, wiggling and turning round to lively praise songs with a lot of laughter, and Pat sent us home considering what prayer we should say to God about things we have done which we wish we shouldnt. The topic was The Lost Sheep, and everyone went home with a homemade biscuit and handmade pencil.
Bring your children for an hour of fun, praise and fellowship.
