    U7 MINI RUGBY REPORTS

    Sutton & Epsom Mini Festival 4 November  - Jets

    Semi-finalists at Sutton & Epsom Festival

    Cobham vs Effingham & Reigate   4-3

     Effingham started with kick off, following two quick tags from Tom Palliser and Adam Mathews Cobham obtained the ball.  Adam Mathews passed to Andrew McCalum who ran up the pitch passing to Tom Williams up the field who then got tagged and passed to Ben Bayly who scored in the corner.

     

    Effingham scored the next try.

     

    Cobham kick off ball was passed from Elliott Richmond-Smith to Andrew McCallum on to Matthew Evans who did some fantastic weaving resulting in another corner try for Cobham.

     

    Effingham then scored their second try despite brilliant tagging from Andrew McCallum, Adam Matthews and Tom Hartley.

     

    The third try by Cobham was scored by James Gardner after a good run up the pitch placing the ball firmly in the corner.

     

    Effingham kick off once again, James Gardner tagged and managed to get the ball for Cobham, Gwilym Bradley passed to Tom Hartley who ran all the way to the try line and scored no 4 try for Cobham.

     

    Effingham came back with their third try but were prevented from scoring a final try by Tom Williams who managed to tag them in the “nick of time”.

     

    Cobham vs Chipstead 5-2

     

    Cobham started with kick off, Allessandro Nigrelli passed to Elliott Richmond-Smith who then passed to James Gardner who ran the length of the pitch scoring the first try in the corner.

     

    Chipstead came back with a lucky equaliser.

     

    Next kick off Tom Palliser passed to Alessandro Nigrelli  and then to Gwilym Bradley who managed to run the ball across the line for another fantastic try.

     

    Chipstead scored another try despite excellent tagging by all of the Cobham team.

     

    Next Cobham kick off Allessandro Nigrelli passed to Ben Bayly who managed to weave from left to centre scoring the third Cobham try.

     

    For the next Cobham kick off Andrew McCallum passed to Gwilym Bradley who passed to James Gardner then to Tom Williams who took it all the way forward but was tagged close to the line but passed back to a well placed Adam Matthews who placed the ball over the line scoring Cobham’s fourth try.

     

    Despite a good run Chipstead missed out on a third try as Tom Williams was waiting on the wing and managed to make a last minute lurch at the their tag.

     

    The final try was set up through good passing between Gwilym Bradley, Tom Williams and Adam Matthews with Adam Matthews being pushed into touch 3/4 way in.  Elliott Richmond-Smith and Adam Matthews managed some excellent defending with the ball moving to Tom Williams and then Matthew Evans who scored the final try of the game following an impressive run with the ball.

     

    Cobham vs Old Reigatians 6 -2

     

    Cobham Kick off Andrew McCallum passed to Matthew Evans who scored first try.

     

    The second try was caused following a handover to Cobham, Ben Bayly tagged who then passed to Adam Matthews who quickly got it away to Matthew Evans who then had a head to head clash with the opposition resulting in retaliation by Ben Bayly who weaved down the pitch from left to right and finally scoring in the centre.

     

    The third try was scored as a result of good defence by Bill Bayly and Adam Mathews which ended with James Gardner running the length of the pitch to score. 

     

    The fourth try was scored by Ben Bayly who ran the whole length of the pitch constantly weaving and firmly placing the ball on the touch line.

     

    The opposition scored their first try very quickly into the second half.

     

    Next Cobham kick off was started by Olivia Williams who passed to Tom Palliser who made an excellent sprint to score Cobham’s fifth try.

     

    More excellent tagging and passing by Ben Bayly, Tom Hartley and Olivia Williams ending with a disallowed try by Tom Hartley.  Tom Hartley made up for this by scoring Cobham’s sixth try with a dramatic run.

    More defensive tagging at the end by Tom Williams prevented another try by the opposition.

     

    Cobham vs Sutton & Epsom 5-4

     

    Kick off by Cobham – a battle of the “Toms” for the first try fantastic weaving by Tom Palliser who scored this.

     

    Opposition equalised despite excellent tagging once again by whole team.

     

    Great passing between Matthew Evans, Tom Hartley, Alessandro Nigrelli, Adam Mathews with the final pass to Matthew Evans who secured the second try.

     

    Following Cobham’s second try the opposition pushed forward but close to their touch line Cobham managed to win the ball with Tom Hartley running the whole length of the pitch to score Cobham’s third try.

     

    The opposition scored shortly into the second half their second try.

     

    Next kick off by Cobham, ball passed to Andrew McCallum who passed to Allessandro Nigrelli who scored the fourth try for Cobham.

     

    The opposition once again pushed forward but hadn’t bargained for Olivia Williams making such a quick dash for the dropped ball who then passed to Tom Palliser who ran with it but following being tagged passed back to Olivia Williams who then passed on to Andrew who then passed on to Tom Palliser who was tagged at the last minute but thanks to James Gardner being well placed the ball was passed back to him which he then placed firmly on the touch line resulting the Cobham’s fifth try.

     

    Opposition then scored their third try.

     

    “not sure when try no 4 for the opposition was scored!”

     

    Semi Final – Cobham vs Rosslyn Park

     

    Rosslyn Park kick off but to an early mistake by them, Cobham win the ball and then commence on some fantastic passing down the field resulting in the first try by James Gardner.  This was the only try scored in the first half lots of good tagging by the team stalling all attempts at a try from the opposition.

     

    The second half starts well with Allessandro Nigrelli passing to Matthew Evans on to Tom Hartley and finally to Tom Palliser who scores Cobham’s second try.

     

    Within a short period of time the opposition manage to close in on Cobham and score the three final tries despite Cobham’s constant tagging.  A very close game.
