Cobham C Team Festival – 15 Nov 2009  ~  3rd Place Bowl Winners

Firstly a very big well done to all the boys; certainly by far their best team performance to date

Group Stage - Winners

Cobham vs Wimbledon   (10 – 0) tries from Oscar and Alex

Cobham vs Teddington   ( 7 – 5) try from Oscar, converted by Guy

In both games, the game plan was simple and effective – move the ball twice only, take the tackle and quickly recycle, which the boys did pretty effectively. The boys had so much more of the ball in the first game and run in as easy winners, however against Teddington, this was much harder fought, scoring and converting to take the win in the last play of the match

Semi – Finals

Cobham vs Guildford   (5 – 7) try from Jack

Again a hard fought and very close game, with the boys pinning Guildford back near their own try line for last several plays of the game. Tries were eventually one a piece although we came so close to scoring a second and ended up losing by a conversion!

3rd Place play-off

Cobham vs Chobham   (7 – 0) try from Rhino, converted by Alec

Like us, Chobham won their group stage and lost their semi final!

A reasonably tight and hard fought game, however the Cobham boys seemed much more determined and as a result bossed the game about and deserved the win

Summary  ~  it was extremely pleasing to seeing the boys play very well as a team today; it really did start to come pretty good and provides a very good platform to build upon. The standard of tackling and driving forward was key to the on-pitch successes, which bar a missed conversion, could have easily have seen them lifting the winners trophy

We are back at Guildford next week, where we will no doubt be looking to out todays score right.....!
