Rugby Sevens

Rugby Sevens is a variant of rugby union in which teams are made up of seven players. Rugby sevens is sanctioned by the IRB and is played under substantially the same laws and on a field of the same dimensions as the 15-player game.

A normal sevens match consists of two halves of seven minutes with a one-minute half-time break.  7’s is a fast paced game that requires good fitness levels, and is not for the faint hearted!

The Cobham 7’s team is predominantly made up of 1st XV and AXV players, however emerging U18 players are more than welcome to train and we hope that this year we get an influx of some young, pacey players.

Cobham RFC 7’s team train between mid April to mid August every Wednesday evening between 7.30pm – 9pm.

This year we entered into three 7’s tournaments, Farnham 7’s, Bournemouth 7’s, and Newquay 7’s, however next year (2009-2010 season) we hope to enter into the Manchester 7’s and Bath 7’s tournaments as well.

This year’s results are as follows:

  • Farnham 7’s – 25th April – Plate Winners
  • Bournemouth 7’s – 23rd-24th May – Open Cup Quarter Finalists
  • Newquay 7’s – 18th-19th July –  President’s Cup Semi-Finalists
