U7 MINI RUGBY REPORTS
Cobham Mini Festival 30 September – Report by Claire R-S
The boys made a good account of themselves, doing the coaches and their fellow U7’s proud.
The first game was against Tunbridge Wells. There was some great passing and Tristan scored in the first minute. Then Gwilym scored, followed by Tom W running three-quarters of the pitch without being tagged to touch down for the third try. Then James scored, followed by some good “zig-zagging” through the opponents by Elliott for the fifth try. The team carried out some great tagging and the final score was 5:3 to Cobham.
The second match was against Reeds. Olivia made some great quick runs and scored the first try. The team worked really well backing each other up, which resulted in three further tries, scored by Ben, Elliott and Andrew. Unfortunately the final score was a very close 4:5 to Reeds.
Cobham made it through to the semi-finals where they met Teddington (the eventual winners of the U7’s). It was a close match with some good concentration and passing by Cobham. They also carried out some excellent defending with Thomas doing some great tagging and Adam was unlucky at one point not to score a try. Unfortunately Cobham lost narrowly 3:4.
A great day was had by all and the boys are excited about the next festival.
