    Hello all,

    Well it's been a long season but the arrival of the sunny weather last weekend signals beyond doubt that it is definitely over. However, before you put away the rugby boots and get out the cricket whites for a few months I thought I would do a quick round up of the last month's activities by way of a wrap-up.

    • Surrey C Festival - A poorly organised tournament and terrible playing conditions made this a difficult day for everyone in this depleted squad. However, despite the difficult circumstances, some very brave and determined performances against a strong field secured third place in the group for the Cobham team. Not enough to progress but very creditable in the circumstances.
    • Surrey B Festival - Torrential rain took its toll as this festival was unfortunately abandoned after just 3 games.
    • Surrey A Festival - A great day out as the Cobham team retained its crown as Surrey champions.
    • Esher Floodlit Festival - The first time CRFC have entered this event turned out to be another great success as Cobham swept to victory.
    • Isle of White tour - two teams travelled to the IoW to compete in the the Vectis tournament. One team reached the semi-final and the other ran out eventual winners.

    A very successful end to the season!!

    Of course the season would not have been so successful without the huge contribution of a lot of people who deserve our thank yous.

    • Thanks to Katy C, Kathryn S and everyone involved in the planning and organising of the Opera event in October. As well as being a fantastic evening, the event really put our age group on the map by raising £6,000, double the target amount;
    • Thanks to all who helped out with litter duty and pitch marshalling at the three home festivals;
    • Thanks to every coach who stepped on to the pitch and gave their time and their patience and helped the boys to progress so much over the season;
    • Thanks to Steve R for organising the tour to the Isle of Wight;
    • Thanks to those who have put their hand up and volunteered to be on the festival committee for next season;
    • Thanks to each and every parent for bringing your young rugby players each Sunday morning and to all the fixtures and festivals;
    • And finally, thanks very much to all who contributed to the case of wine that Ashley presented us with on the last Sunday at Dorking. It was a very kind gesture.

    We hope to see you all again next season. Everything changes as we lose the tags and start contact rugby in earnest. When registration opens we will let you all know.

    I will also let you know more details about a summer get together when we get nearer. Date we were looking at was Fathers day.

    Have a great summer,

    Cheers,
